Client News - HCS Connect™ and the 5 Day RAP

Hello from HCS -

As per the 2021 Medicare final rule effective January 1, 2021, HealthCare Strategies has been working diligently to ensure HCS Connect™ has all the necessary elements required so that from a system standpoint, you will be well prepared to handle this change.

For the next several weeks you will receive additional information via email. Some of the topics included will be:

  1. HCS Connect™ enhancement detail along with screen shots for reference.

  2. Notice of Admission (NOA) Supplemental Order (SO) that will be available to initiate the care as part of the required verbal order

  3. General information and reminders on the elements of the 5 Day RAP requirements

  4. CMS guidance on the 5 day RAP – including details about penalties for late submission

  5. The importance of checking patient eligibility

  6. How to handle Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP)

  7. Best practices to compare with agency process to help ensure readiness and timeliness

What you should be doing now:

  1. Work your billing problems tabs in Connect™ every day to resolve 2020 issues

  2. Check your DCI and/or audits and resolve all issues that may be holding up claims

  3. If needed, assign extra resources to ensure periodic claims are current

  4. Getting 2020 periodic claims in good working order now will help to eliminate confusion beginning January 1, 2021

We will be offering online tutorials beginning Thursday, December 3, 2020 via Go to Meeting. If you would like to participate, please let us know.

In the meantime, if you have questions or need additional information, please let us know.
